A coatings brand grounded in material science, environmental responsibility, and a standard of finish that holds up to scrutiny.
The Dmeissen name traces back to Meissen, the German town long associated with royal porcelain — renowned for elegant design and a refined, distinguished character. Like porcelain, inorganic coatings are formed under high-temperature firing, built to withstand real pressure.
The name carries a second meaning too, rooted in the founders' native language: one part reflecting the resources people depend on to live, the other a healthy living environment worth protecting. Together, they represent a commitment to quality, integrity, and responsible innovation — the values behind every product we make.
Dmeissen inorganic coatings are made from waste shell bio-material, plant matter, and mineral raw materials, using polymer nano-modification in place of traditional petrochemical emulsions. The shell material is sourced from naturally harvested or farmed shellfish after the meat has been removed — cleaned, ground, and processed through high-temperature calcination into a porous, highly absorbent bio-based calcium carbonate.
Applied with water and no chemical adhesives required, the parent formulation is described as free of formaldehyde and TVOCs, with fire-resistance, moisture and mould resistance, and antibacterial properties attributed to the shell material's natural alkalinity.
Materials sourced and processed with long-term ecological impact in mind, not just short-term finish.
A healthy living environment for the people who use the spaces we help finish.
